Summary

Indian Railway has released the notification for “Assistant Loco pilot (ALP)” Exam. Basically Assistant Loco pilot assist the Loco pilot (Driver of train) to performing his duties so it is a job of high responsiveness. From this job you may get promotion in LP and Sr. LP posts and you can write also exams for many posts.

Note

  • Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A1, B1 and B2.
  • Candidates are advised to ensure that they are eligible as per the medical standards for the posts opted by them.
  • Those who are opting for RRB ALP Post should strictly adhere to the medical standard in terms of physical and visual fitness.

Candidates should keep the following things in mind related to the RRB ALP Eligibility:

  • If a candidate is eligible for the relaxation of age on more than one ground, he/she would be accorded the highest of the age relaxations (not cumulative) for which he/she is eligible.
  • No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates applying against unreserved RRB vacancies.
  • PWD candidates applying against UR vacancies will be allowed age relaxation applicable for UR PWD only.
  • Candidates should note that the date of birth filled in this application should be the same as recorded in the Matriculation /SSLC or an equivalent certificate. No subsequent request for its change will be considered.
  • Candidates should have the Educational/Technical qualifications indicated for notified posts from recognized Institute/University as on the closing date for submission of the Online application.

RRB ALP Selection Process

RRB ALP & Technician exam is conducted in four sages, First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification. Find the important facts about the stages below:

RRB ALP First Stage CBT

  • This computer-based test is the first stage of RRB ALP & Technician exam, this test is qualifying in nature
  • The paper contains 75 objective type questions (MCQs) and total time given to complete the paper is 60 minutes
  • Each question carries 1 mark, hence, total mark of the paper is 75
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark will be deducted for one wrong answer

RRB ALP Second Stage CBT

  • Those who secure cut off marks in first stage CBT, get a call for second stage CBT
  • This is the second stage of the exam, which has two parts – part A and Part B
  • Part A will have 100 questions and total time is 90 minutes
  • Part B will have 75 questions and the duration of the paper is 60 minutes
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark will be deducted for one wrong answer

RRB ALP CBAT

  • This stage is only for those candidates who have applied for assistant loco pilot posts
  • Question papers are made available in both English and Hindi
  • There are five test batters, candidates need to score certain marks in each test battery to qualify the exam

RRB ALP Document verification

  • Candidates who clear all the stages, are called for document verification by the respective RRBs
  • Candidates need to carry the original documents asked by RRBs on the day of document verification
  • If any candidate fails to submit original documents or if any document is found fake, the candidature of that candidate will be canceled

Result

The final RRB ALP result will be published after document verification on the zonal RRBs websites. PDF containing names of the successful candidates will be published. The final merit list will be prepared after combining marks of stage two and Computer-Based Aptitude Test. In case of technicians, scores obtained in the second stage CBT will be taken into consideration.
