Summary

RBI Officer Grade =’B’ is one of the most sought after jobs in India. Reserve Bank of India is India’s central banking institution. Every year RBI conducts an open competitive exam for recruitment of suitable candidates to the post of RBI Officer Grade ‘B’. It is a national exam for the recruitment of Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) and Direct Recruitment for the posts of Officer, in Grade ‘B’ for DEPR and Officers in Grade ‘B’ for DSIM.

Process of Selection – The overall selection will be based on the following phases:

Phase-I   : Online Examination: Objective Test
Phase-II  : Online Examination: Descriptive & Objective Test
Phase-III : Interview

Candidates who will qualify the Online Examination (Phase-I and Phase-II) and Interview, securing high rank in the Merit List will be given appointment to the post of Officer in Grade ‘B’.

Eligibility

Age

There is an upper and lower age limit set by the RBI for candidates who wish to appear for the RBI Grade B Exam. The upper age limit for candidates in accordance to their category is given in the table below:

Candidates belonging to the reserved categories enjoy certain relaxation on the RBI Grade B Age limit. The Age limit relaxation on RBI Grade B exam for candidates under reservation quota is as mentioned below:

Educational Qualifications

Candidates applying for the RBI Grade B exam must note that the RBI has laid down several educational criteria for its recruitment process. Candidates must have at least minimum education qualifications, as indicated in the table below from a recognized university board.

As per the RBI Grade B Officer eligibility decided by the RBI, those who are awaiting the final results of the prescribed educational qualification cannot apply for any of the posts.

Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation / Equivalent technical qualification with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years

DEPR

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute; OR
  • PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute; OR
  • Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

DSIM

  1. A Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years; OR
  2. Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and a one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR
  3. M. Stat. degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years OR
  4. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.
