  • Indian Airforce conducts the online examination two times(first in March and second in September) in a year for the recruitment of Airmen in Group X and Group Y Trades.
  • For X group candidates, who have passed 10+2 in Mathematics, Physics, and English with minimum 50% marks or having a polytechnic diploma of Three years with minimum 50% marks, may apply for this Group.
  • For Y group candidates, who have passed 10+2 or equivalent in any subject with 50% marks, may apply for this Group.
  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of online Test, Physical standard Test (PST) and medical Examination.

What is Group X & Y Exam in Indian Air Force?

  • Indian Air Force Group X & Y are the personnel below officer rank in the Indian Air Force also known as Airmen.
  • The Indian Air Force conducts the Group X & Y exam for the selection of airmen into the Indian Air Force.
  • Indian Air Force Group X & Y is a national level examination which is conducted twice a year, first in the month of March and next in the month of September.
  • This exam is conducted for young undergraduates who are looking for an opportunity to join the Indian Air Force.

 

The exam is only applicable for Male candidates who are selected in the following branches/trades:

1. Group X (Technical Trade):

  • Students who have passed/appeared in 10+2 with Physics and Maths are eligible for Group X trade.                  
  • Their work profile includes maintenance of all fields related to Aircraft, ground system, etc.

2. Group Y (Non-Technical Trade):

  • Students who have passed/appeared in 10+ 2 in any stream are eligible for Group Y trade.                                    
  • Their work profile includes all work other than technical like logistics, administration, accounts, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

                                                                   The Indian Air Force recruits Airmen in Group X & Group Y for Feb 2022 Course. The IAF has invited online applications for unmarried male citizens of India & Nepal. Below is the eligibility criteria for various entries. Make sure interested male candidates must fulfil the entire Indian Air Force Group X Y eligibility criteria. Candidates failing to fulfil the Indian Air Force Group X Y eligibility criteria 2021 will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process.

1. Nationality:

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • Nepalese male candidates care also eligible.

2. Age Limit Criteria:

  • Only the candidates born between 16 Jan 2001 and 29 Dec 2004 are eligible to apply for Indian Air Force Group X Y 2021 recruitment.
  • In some cases, where a candidate clearing all the selection stages, the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years. 

3. Educational Qualification:

  • Passed 3 years diploma course in Engineering in any stream with 50% marks aggregate & 50% marks in English
Group Y (Except IAF(S) and Musician Trades)
  • Passed 10+2/equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics & English
  • He Must have 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English
Group Y (Medical Assistant Trade Only)
  • A 10+2/Intermediate / equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English
  • He must have an aggregate of 50% and an English mark of 50%

Note

              Candidates eligible for Group ‘X’ examination (based on the percentage of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible for Group Y and would have the choice of appearing for both Group X and Group Y exams. This choice can be mentioned while completing the online registration form.

               

               The aggregate percentage of marks mentioned before the decimal will be considered. The rounding off of marks/percentage is not allowed. That means, 49.99% will not be considered as 50%.

4. Medical Standards:

Even before the written exam, one needs to appear for medical examination, below is a list of medical standards for Indian Air Force Group X & Y 2021:

Note: Permanent tattoos on the body are not permitted in the military, however, tattoos on the inner face of the forearms, back/reverse side of the palm, cultural & tribal tattoos may be considered.

Exam Pattern

The marking scheme of the IAF Group X & Y exam 2021 is one mark for every for the correct answer and 0.25 mark deducted for every wrong answer. Phase I: Online Test:

                   The online test of Indian Air Force Group X comprises a total of 70 Questions of one mark each with a duration of 60 minutes. The Group Y Paper comprises of a total of 50 Questions of one mark each with a duration of 45 minutes.

The candidates who appear for both Group X & Y need to appear for a paper which consists of a total of 100 questions, the total time duration is 85 minutes.

Phase II:

                         After clearing Phase I, which is an online test, a cut off marks will be decided by the CASB and based on that, candidates will be shortlisted for Phase II of the selection of Indian Air Force Group X & Y. Phase II of the Indian Air Force Selection Process will be conducted at the Airmen Selection Centre.

How To Apply For IAF X, Y Group Recruitment 2021?

  1. Click on the link provided below or visit official website www.airmenselection.cdac.in or www.careerindianairforce.cdac.in
  2. A new page will appear. New Users will have to register first.
  3. Click on New User Register
  4. A new page will appear to enter your mobile no. and email to register yourself.
  5. An OTP will be sent on your mobile no. and email.
  6. Click on “Submit”.
  7. A Login Id and Password will be sent to your registered mobile no. and email id.
  8. Login using the Registration Number and Password. Select the post.
  9. Fill up other details such as educational qualifications etc. depending upon the educational qualification of the candidate.
  10. Pay examination fee as applicable, online using Credit/Debit Card or Internet Banking
  11. Candidates are required to upload their scanned colour photograph and Signature (in English or in Hindi) in JPEG format.
  12. Login with Registration Number and Password in the link for “UPLOAD” and thereafter, upload the file/scanned filled
  13. Upload all the required certificates
  14. Submit the application. Print out the acknowledgement for records.

Documents To Upload For IAF X, Y Group Recruitment 2021

Candidate must keep the scanned copy/image of the following (as applicable) beforehand in the ready-to-upload state before starting the filling of online application:-

1. 10th Passing Certificate
2. Passport Size Colour Photo
3. Left-hand thumb impression

5. Candidates Parent Signature (If below 16 years)

Salary of the IAF Group X and Y 2021

                           During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month shall be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay (applicable for Group ‘X’ Trades only) and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:-

(a) Group ‘X’ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month

   plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.

(b) Group ‘Y’ [Except IAF(S) and Musician Trades]. Rs. 26,900/- per month

  plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
